St Patricks Church, Donaghmore
S McConnell & Sons carried out extensive natural stone restoration at St Patrick’s Church, Donaghmore, involving the careful repair and replacement of stonework across the historic building. Our works included the restoration of string courses, quoins, plinths, window surrounds, roof copings, the spire and pinnacles, with damaged and weathered stone carefully replaced to complement the existing masonry.
A significant part of the project also involved specialist marble work within the sanctuary, where reclaimed marble was carefully cut, shaped and crafted to create a new high altar, reredos, ambo and side tables. The marble was thoughtfully incorporated into the sanctuary to create a cohesive and detailed interior while retaining the character of the historic church. Traditional stone masonry and specialist stone-cutting techniques were used throughout the project, demonstrating S McConnell & Sons’ expertise in historic church restoration, natural stone replacement, architectural stonework and bespoke marble craftsmanship across the UK and Ireland.
