Sinclair Seamen’s Presbyterian Church

S McConnell & Sons carried out specialist natural stone restoration works at Sinclair Seaman’s Presbyterian Church in Belfast, a historic 1857 church in the city’s Sailortown district.

The restoration involved extensive descaling of the existing stonework across all four elevations of the tower, as well as the front elevations of the main building, carefully removing years of weathering and staining to reveal the natural character of the masonry. Significant areas of damaged and weathered stone were replaced on the tower and across the front and side elevations, with new stone carefully integrated into the existing fabric of the church. Repointing works were also carried out to selected elevations to protect the masonry and help maintain the building’s structural integrity. Our skilled stonemasons combined traditional masonry techniques with specialist stone restoration and cleaning methods to sensitively preserve this important historic church.

This project demonstrates S McConnell & Sons’ expertise in historic church restoration, natural stone replacement, repointing and specialist stone cleaning across Northern Ireland.
