McConnells cut the fountain design from DeLanke Cornish Granite into 550 stone sections of detailed carving to complete the 120m oval course of the fountain or ‘necklace of water’. Highly sophisticated carving of 500 tonnes of raw Cornish granite to a tolerance of 2mm produced the plethora of patterns which give the fountain its energetic water course, representing the Princess’s life, which comes to rest in a calm section before redistribution.
S McConnell & Sons completed the contract in 32 weeks.
